A recent news report dated Friday, June 11th, 2010 tells of an event that occurred in the country of Dubai.  An Israeli official entered this country illegally by using a forged passport with the intention to assassinate Mahmoud el Mabhouh.  As a result of this illegal entry, his mission was successful.

As a result of this crime, three countries have banished Israeli personnel from their embassies including the governments of Ireland, Britain and Australia.  What happened is this.  Members of Mossad, which is the Israeli secret police, were provided forged passports which were produced in the country of Israel, with the purpose of providing undetectable entry into the country of Dubai to perpetrate the assassination of Mabhouh.

The fake passports were produced indicating there were provided in Ireland, Britain and Australia which is the reason these countries had to take such drastic measures to communicate their outrage. While Israel said the reason for this event was due to the fact that Mabhouh was instrumental in smuggling weapons from Iran into the Gaza Strip, the found little sympathy when faced with the falsification of these passports.

The entire world is being plagued with the effects of forged passports and the identity theft that these stolen documents perpetrate. This is not just a problem in the United States but it has infected countries world wide. This problem has made it evident that stronger, more enforceable regulations and safeguards must be put into place to reduce and hopefully eliminate the crime of falsification of passports. Thieves are using these to steel identities, open fraudulent bank accounts and, as in this case, even taking a life. This crime also provides cover for those who seek to import weapons into a country under the cover of a false identity.

Numerous website can be found who will offer the service of providing the customer with false identification including passports complete with a duplicated RFID chip that is found within a legitimate passport for security purposes. Many a minor has used a website like this to get a false form of identification to enable them to purchase alcohol and tobacco products even though they are not old enough to do this legally.

While a legal passport in the hands of an honest citizen can provide the opportunity for international travel, in the hands of a criminal, a forged passport is a passport to crime and trouble.
