Count On A Jolly Good Time In The City Of London
57
Out of the many places I've visited throughout my life, London would have to be my favorite. Though I traveled to the United Kingdom when I was only sixteen years old, I will never forget the great memories I made there. The pictures, souvenirs, and memories that I acquired in London have left me figuring out how to get back there. Although I spent quite a long time trying to locate my missing passport, finding adapters, and packing my bags, it was ultimately so worth it. If you love art, history, and culture as I do, a trip to London has to make its way onto your to-do list.
Many people can name the The Tower of London as one of the most notable sites in London. In the past, it was a place for royalty to be imprisoned and tortured, but it has also served many other uses. The Tower Of London has been used as a treasury, an armory, a menagerie, an observatory, and also as a fortress. A treasure trove for any history buff, the Tower of London holds a whole day's worth of exploring. Seeing the ravens makes it worth going, just by itself. These huge black birds walk around the lawn, and, believe it or not, they are one of the most important guests of the Tower of London. It is said that if the ravens ever left the Tower, then the kingdom would fall. Not only do the ravens have their very own living quarters, but they have their own personal handler as well.
One of London's most famous sights is Big Ben, which has been represented in popular films and books since its creation. As one of London's most well known historical monuments, it has been represented in movies and stories for generations. Although pictures and films do it a little justice, seeing it for yourself is truly breathtaking. Standing beneath it will make you really and truly understand why it has been used as an English icon for so long. A visit to Parliament can give you a first-hand look at how the government of London works. Although I am not particularly interested in the workings of the government, seeing it in action was something really special and pretty inspiring.
The Changing of the Guards is a classic, and almost cliche, sight to see. I may have wanted to mess with the guards, but as they were armed, I settled for a photo. But who knows? If I go back, maybe I will end up with the opportunity to kiss or make one laugh. Many different locations have a Changing of the Guards, and I recommend seeing one for yourself if you are in any of these locations. The plethora of gardens and parks located in London is unbelievable. Huge plots of flowers of every color roll on the landscape, surrounded by swans and beautiful artistic sculptures. Since it is free, and since it makes walking anywhere amazing, I definitely recommend going.
The shopping in London is world famous. One of the coolest places I shopped was at the Camden Market, which is far from an average shopping spot. Stretching on for as far as I could see, Camden Market offered everything from handmade bags to leopard print Doc Martins. So grab some money and your passport, as there is something for everyone at Camden Market, and I guarantee after a long day shopping, you can't help but walk away with tons of stuff.
After a week in the City of London, I walked away with some unforgettable memories. TO this day, I dream of revisiting that remarkable island. As for your vacation, you should know that London is a great destination for everyone in your family. I walked away from the week-long London trip with some amazing memories, and I still dream of getting to go back there someday. If you've never been to London, I very highly recommend it. I promise it's even worth having to locate that missing passport.
