Moscow - Experience The Grandeur Of Russia's Capital
64
When one thinks of Moscow, its easy to imagine tall domes and spires jutting into the sky. As the capital of Russia, the biggest city in Europe, and the hub of everything political, economic, educational, and financial in the country, you can expect that a visit to this colorful and impressive city is far from boring. Taking a vacation to Russia does require a US passport, but if you don't have one, don't fret, as you can get yours online.
Online Passport
As one might imagine, the thought of getting a passport online can be worrisome. However, these websites are licensed by the US Department of State and are not only official, but very secure. Online passport services can get you anything from an emergency passport renewal to a passport replacement to a passport for your children, and they can do it in the shortest amount of time as well.
Largest City
Visiting the largest city in Europe can be quite an intimidating thought, but a great place to start and become introduced to the exciting city of Moscow is to visit the Red Square. The Red Square is an official UNESCO World Heritage Site and contains some of the most important landmarks in the entire country. Here you'll find the unimaginably beautiful St. Basil's Cathedral, Lenin's Mausoleum, where the embalmed body of Vladimir Lenin is on display, GUM, the largest department store in the whole country, and the very impressive State History Museum. This makes for a great place to start thanks to its central location in Moscow, as well as the fact that it simply stands for so much of what Russia is as a country.
Red Square
Similar to the Red Square is the Kremlin, and conveniently enough, it's located right next to the Red Square. Also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Kremlin is a walled-off and fortified complex right on the Moskva River. Kremlins are Russian citadels, and the entire walled area contains several towers, four cathedrals, four palaces, and more and is where the President of Russia lives. One of the buildings you can go in is the Armory, a museum that houses Russia's national treasures. Inside you'll also find an amazing precious stones exhibit. The huge cannon and bell are worth seeing also.
Arbat Street
Old Arbat Street is a great place to take a stroll and look for souvenirs. This cobblestone road is full out quaint outside cafes, street performers, artists, and little stores. While there are many vendors selling cheap and garish souvenirs, there are some stores that offer high-quality, fairly-priced items to bring back home.
Moscow Zoo
The Moscow Zoo is the biggest and oldest zoo in Russia, and it has been around for 100 years. Featuring more than a thousand different animal species, it's a great place to spend some time during your trip.
Vacation Destination
There are several reasons why Moscow is such a popular vacation destination. The signature architecture, the overwhelming grandeur of the Red Square and the Kremlin, the deep historical roots, and more add to the appeal of this huge city. Don't forget to get yourUS passport before you go. Online passport services can get you an emergency passport renewal and more as quickly as you need.
